I love the shapes and muted colors of old pottery and china. The variety of ways the 'then pattern designers' chose to embellish these vessels of use, always truly facinates me. It was obviously important for this society to cherish time together for coffee/tea and talking/listening while using these items.
This Shelley cup at left was produced in 1930 as a coffee demitasse. I love to see the early morning light shine on it-
before I fill it with espresso.
